50th Annual Jack Tosh Holiday Classic
The Jack Tosh Holiday Classic, a cherished tradition at York High School, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year! Join us December 26, 27, 28, 30, and 31 for five days of thrilling basketball action. Admission is $5 per day, with reentry requiring an additional $5 fee. For schedules, updates, and results, visit the official Jack Tosh Website or follow along on X at @JackToshHC. You can live stream every game on YouTube via the York Sports Network.
The tournament honors Jack Tosh, a transformative leader in York athletics. Tosh joined York in 1974 as Assistant Director of Administration and became Athletic Director in 1975, serving in the role for 18 years. His legacy includes launching the York Turkey Tournament, the York Holiday Tournament, and the York Holiday Festival, renamed the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic in 1990.
During his tenure, York teams achieved remarkable success, winning 61 West Suburban Conference Championships, 68 Regionals, 38 Sectionals, and 10 State Titles, including the 1984 IHSA Girls AA State Basketball Championship. Tosh’s contributions to basketball extended beyond York, earning him induction into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1989. He retired in 1990 and received the IHSA’s prestigious Buzzy O'Connor Award in 2001.
In 2013, Vince Doran expanded the tournament to include 32 teams, transforming it into a premier five-day event with 67 games played across two gyms. The Jack Tosh Holiday Classic continues to grow, carrying forward Jack Tosh's vision and building on 50 years of excellence.
We can’t wait to see you courtside for this milestone celebration!
