Six Dukes Make Olympic Development Regional Team

Congratulations to Aiden Reedy '24, Martin Polomsky '24, Tim Jensen '25, Henry Nelson '25, Ethan Allen '27, and Teddy Kamenica '27, who were all recently selected to the USA Water Polo Midwest Zone Regional ODP teams for their age groups. The Olympic Development Program serves as the forum to identify and develop athletes to represent USA Water Polo throughout domestic and international competition.  The Midwest Zone is comprised of Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Ohio, and Kentucky.  All six athletes will play in a national tournament in Dallas, TX, this January. From that tournament, athletes will be selected to play in the ODP National Championships in Chicagoland in early March. Best of luck!

2025 Tryouts

At York, we have made great strides over the past few seasons. In 2023, we advanced to the state semifinal before finishing 4th Place in Illinois. In 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2016, and 2008, we won our IHSA Sectional Tournament and advanced to the Elite 8 at the IHSA State Tournament. With lots of experience returning this year, we expect even more success in 2025.

There is no experience necessary when trying out for water polo. We teach new players the game when they come out for water polo freshmen year, and our goal is to have each player ready to compete at the varsity level by the time they begin their junior season.

In 2025, we will have a frosh-soph team that is no-cut. Our varsity team, however, will be tryout based. Athletes will try out for the team the first two days of practice.
