York Dukes Athletic Recap: September Showdowns and Key Matchups Ahead

York Soccer:

The York Dukes are set for an exciting showdown tonight as they head to Glenbrook North (GBN) for a 7 PM kickoff. With momentum building, the Dukes are poised to put on a strong performance and continue their competitive push this season.

Earlier this week, JV1 delivered a remarkable comeback victory over Glenbard West, erasing a 2-0 deficit with three unanswered goals to claim a 3-2 win. The varsity squad, despite creating numerous chances, fell just short in a 1-0 loss to Glenbard West. With solid efforts across both teams, the Dukes are showing resilience and determination as they prepare for the season’s next challenges.

York Dukes Volleyball:

The Dukes volleyball team put up a valiant fight against Glenbrook South but fell in two tightly contested sets, 24-26 and 14-25. Despite the loss, the freshman A squad continued to impress, securing a victory and adding to the program’s depth.

With a 14-5 overall record, York now turns its focus to a crucial home match against Hinsdale Central on October 1st. This contest will feature Youth Night, where local youth volleyball players will receive free admission by contacting Coach P in advance. It promises to be an exciting evening both on and off the court as the Dukes aim to bounce back and extend their strong season.

JV Football:

In a gritty contest against Oak Park and River Forest (OPRF), the JV football team emerged with a hard-fought 20-12 victory. The Dukes executed well on both sides of the ball and showed determination in key moments to secure the win. This result keeps the Dukes on track as they continue to build momentum throughout the season.

Girls Cross Country:

York’s girls cross country team had a standout performance at the Peoria Richard Spring Invitational, claiming the Varsity Championship title. Leading the charge was Karlin Janowski, who earned individual champion honors. The JV team also delivered a strong showing, finishing third overall, with seven athletes setting new personal records (PRs). The Dukes continue to assert their dominance on the cross country circuit as they eye a successful postseason.
