REACH English Language Arts (ELA)

In Elmhurst 205’s ELA classrooms, we strive to develop highly literate critical thinkers prepared to meet the demands of college, career, and life. With the guidance of teachers, students navigate a variety of texts over a large volume of reading, building knowledge around rigorous topics and thinking around deep questions.

Students in Grades 3 - 5 REACH ELA receive enrichment during the acceleration block of their day. They continue to participate with their homeroom class during the ELA block and grade level curricular materials, Wit and Wisdom or the Dual Language Modules.

REACH Math

In Elmhurst 205’s mathematics classrooms, we strive to build mathematically proficient students prepared to meet the demands of college, career, and life. Our students become flexible and resourceful problem solvers. Alone or in groups and with access to technology, they work productively and reflectively, with the skilled guidance of their teachers. Orally and in writing, students communicate their ideas and results effectively. They value mathematics and engage actively in learning it.

Students in REACH Mathematics encounter curriculum earlier and more quickly than other students completing all of 6th grade mathematics and half of 7th grade mathematics by the end of 5th grade. Students on the REACH Mathematics pathway typically complete Geometry by the end of 8th grade and Calculus 2 by the end of their Junior year.

Elmhurst D205 uses Eureka Math’s curriculum in grades K-5 and Illustrative Mathematics 6th Grade - Algebra 2.
